At Sarno Legal, PLLC, we know that something you never saw coming and couldn’t control can change your life forever. Navigating the pain that follows takes a special kind of courage. For our clients, that “something” is usually a serious accident. For our family, it was the cancer diagnosis of our now 8-year-old daughter Liv in 2024.
On September 27, 2024, our then 7-year-old daughter Liv was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. As you can imagine, feelings of fear, uncertainty, and devastation took hold of our minds. In the year that followed, Liv endured 42 weeks of grueling chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, and four weeks of daily radiation.
Thanks to the incredible team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Jimmy Fund Clinic (pediatric wing of Dana-Farber), Liv has been cancer-free since August 21, 2025. The staff at the Jimmy Fund Clinic are angels in the flesh who not only saved Liv’s life, but the lives of so many other children and adults for several decades now.
To support the work of the oncologists, nurses, child-life specialists, administrators, social workers, medical assistants, and the brave patients and families that take on Cancer daily at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, I created a Pan-Mass Challenge team in my daughter’s honor to raise money for cancer research and treatment for families that can’t afford it. Our team is Team Live Like Liv.
We participate in the Pan-Mass Challenge (“PMC”) fundraiser, a two-day, 180+ mile bike ride in Massachusetts from Worcester to Provincetown that raises money for cutting edge cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber. The Pan-Mass Challenge raises more money for cancer research and treatment than any other single fundraising event in the United States (over $1 billion since 1980). The event, held annually during the first weekend in August, raises critical funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dana-Farber uses the money raised to continue their leadership in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research.
Since 2025, our team has raised over $35,000 for Dana-Farber through the Pan-Mass Challenge. But we want to do more.
We entrusted our daughter’s future to medical professionals who helped us understand what to expect, supported and reassured us, and ultimately, helped save Liv’s precious life. Asaf understands what it means for his clients to place that same kind of trust in him.
We are honored when people choose Sarno Legal to help them reclaim their lives after a serious injury. We show our gratitude by donating 10% of the fee we earn on each personal injury case to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute so they can continue to help others valiantly and boldly fight cancer. Remember, Sarno Legal doesn’t get paid unless you get paid, and once we get paid, we will donate 10% of our fee (not your funds) to Dana Farber for cancer research and treatment for families that can’t afford it. Your award or settlement is never reduced.
